Scarborough Athletic F.C. Manager France agrees new contract

Boro manager Brian France has agreed a new one year contract extension to stay at Scarborough Athletic FC into a fourth season.

The contract will also have an added one-year option for the 2011-12 season, which will be discussed at the end of the forthcoming campaign.

Seadog Blog welcomes this news and wishes Brian and his team all the best for the forthcoming season. The pressure is on him I suppose, last season can be regarded as a "sighter" but it is very important that this time around the club is in the promotion hunting pack right from the start.

The club is about to enter its fourth year in "exile" and the 40-mile round trip will continuously require "carrots" to keep the crowds above the 400 mark.   A chance of promotion is one such carrot.

The full story about Brian's new contract is here:

Scarborough Athletic - full list of Pre-Season friendlies announced

Scarborough Athletic FC have announced a list of pre-season friendlies for the 2010-11 season.

Unfortunately our temporary home at Queensgate is unavailable due to re-seeding the pitch so all the first team fixtures are to be played away.

Boro's first team matches arranged so far are as follows:

July 10  Barton Town (a)  3pm
July 14  Pontefract Collieries (a) 7:45pm
July 17  Goole (a) 3pm
TBC  July 24/25   Chester (at Telford, Supporters Direct Shield)
July 27  Ossett Albion (a)  7:45pm

The stand-out fixture is the yet-to-be-confirmed meeting with the newly formed Chester FC at Telford. It would be for the inagural "Supporters Direct Shield" and it is always nice to win some silverware - this could be a chance!

The reserves also have some friendlies and the home ones will be played at the Sports Complex in Filey (just off Scarborough Road)

Boro Reserves friendlies arranged so far are:

July 31  Beverley Town (a)
August 7  FC Filey (h)
August 10  Edgehill (h)

Not sure what time the reserve friendlies kick off, consult the press nearer the date.

Scarborough Athletic & Town - is there a merger in the air???

Tucked away in a regional paper's online page was this tantalizing little tit-bit of information

Click here and read paragraph 4

Does it really say what I think it says?  Merger talks between Scarborough Athletic FC and Scarborough Town FC?

Well folks, I look forward to hearing more about this in the coming weeks.

Of course many Scarborians have said this is what they want. Seadog Blog intends to remain neutral on the issue until further details are released (if, indeed, they are).

In the interim: C'MON YOU SEADOGS!!
